Luftwaffe parade items

Post by Oberleutnant Ulrich »

Anyone know where I can get the Luftwaffe Officer's white parade belt and buckle? I know where I can get the Aiguillettes. But also looking for a nice pair of parade gloves, have a pair...but want a nicer pair.

The LW officer's parade belt is a brocade belt not a white belt. I use a GDR NVA Marine officers parade belt which looks almost identical but lacks the narrow red line in the centre. Thses can be found on German ebay, search for "feldbinde". I have looked for reproductions, but have not suceeded in finding one. There is a firm in the US which makes WWI german parade belts and they have one which is identical to the LW one for some colonial regiment, but it is very expensive. There is one firm that sells a reproduction, but it is not of satisfactory quality.

Thanks, but either it's 100% accurate or it goes into the waste bin for me...I'm really picky.

I agree with the sentiment. I am embarrassed to be using a less than 100% accurate one. This is what I have found so far. Traders of the lost surplus offers this one for $75 (without buckle). http://www.totls.com/index.php?option=c ... view&id=53

Compare this to an original like this. But A minty original will cost you £600+

This company http://www.kammerbulle.de/html/belts_buckles.html makes WW1 repros which use the same brocade as the LW ones but the lining is wrong you would have to replace it with LW trikot, see this example

Buckles are easier to come by. I got mine from Hessen Antiques, and it is almost indistinguishable from an original.

With respect to dress gloves. There are a couple of vendors that offer repros, but they are neither 100% accurate nor of the quality of originals. Your best bet might be to try and find originals, but you would be lucky to get them in the right size. There are Bundeswehr officers gloves that are made to the identical pattern but these also are impossible to find. Alternativly grey suede morning dress gloves of the same pattern can be found with a little difficulty, but they are expensive. High quality officer's items are a particular problem to find. This applies particularly to greatcoats. several vendors (including Jancke) offer to custom tailor officer's greatcoats. However, these are ALL wrong, because they are made of trikot and not the correct high quality wool coating fabric. They are also simply not made to the quality of the originals but are just look-alikes. As for ledermantles, I have yet to find an accurate reproduction with the quality of the originals.

Yes, I took a chance and bought it as it's cheap. It's not 100% accurate though, as the red line appears to be printed on rather than sewn in. Nobody seems to make replicas of these items. Im thinking of buying an original. I have seen several on offer in good condition around 300Euro.

Another Item I cant find is a brocade dagger hangar for the type 2 luftwaffe dagger. Originals are more expensive than the brocade parade belts, and nobody seems to make repros, although repro daggers are available.

Unfortunately some gear isn't out there as repros
yet, it is the same with the SS Honour dagger, the
repro daggers are out there and the Officer type
hangers but not the correct NCO/OR's type hanger,
yet anyway :-(

At the moment WW2 germandaggers.com,has original Luftwaffe hangers at£125 and £145,he also has a original Eickhorn 2nd luft with replaced original pommel(so now classed as a parts dagger) for £280.If can get hold of dagger clips and similar buckle you can make SS dagger hangers, standard or vertical. The chained SS dagger was not an 'officers' dagger but an service dagger,it was for six years service in the SS.At the moment nobody makes a decent SS chained, the dagger clip is missing (the best copys were made in the 1960's,even they are not cheap if you can find one and probably palmed off as the real deal anyway.)
