Finnish Language question

Post by Pirkka »

One for our Finnish-speaking comrades:

I have tried and completely failed to workout what the correct plural of 'Unknown Soldier' (Tuotematon Sotilas) is, despite consulting three different Teach Yourself Finnish books.
Could one of our Finnish comrades oblige me with it?

Top man, Willi! That was one of the three answers I came up with, but it seems I was a 'T' short in the first word.
Forgive me for saying, but you have an incredibly hard language!

That´s a very useful word Franz.
But do try "saatana" too.

My favourite Finnish word has got to be takatukka.

Both amusing and wrong, wrong, wrong in every possible way!

Ah - Finnish girl I once knew told me the word. A Swedish girl I also 'once knew' said they call it a hockeyfrilla.

Takatukka is very popular in Tampere, where Franz from our troop lives(not that he has one!)...imagine takatukka emerging from under the brim of a helmet...shivers!

For any non-Scandanavians out there, a hockeyfrilla appears to be their name for the noble mullet, hairstyle of the Gods and German footballers in the '80s.
Reading the context of the message, it may have a second meaning, however.

Sorry folks, nasty little spambot deleted there. One of these days someone is going to find the little t@#t who generates these things and kill him in some horrible but inventive way, possibly involving choreography.
Thank you.
