Cap Cord

I got this cap cord in a bunch of german stuff but have no idea what it's for if it is real or not. Any ideas?

Are you sure it's a cap cord? Could you give some more information about this cord - how long it is, the diameter, etc?

I have seen a number of those come up on eBay over the last two years or so, and they're usually being described as BDM leadership lanyards or BDM whistle lanyards. (Which I'm sure they are not as the BDM did not use black and white lanyards.)

The measurements are as follows
length = 25cm
cord diameter = 7mm
distance between knots 16.5cm

That looks the same pattern as this but different type of cord.
This has the look of a piece of bungee cord but its not.
