Kreta

Post by Peiper »

Hi gang went to Crete in 2006, saw the Maleme war grave site on hill "107" where the "Falshirm" parachuted, it is a cemetery now but there is a museum not far away in Chania (there is a bus stop right outside the cemetery on the main road and costs about 5.00 euro) The place is easy to get to as is Maleme (there is a long walk though, up hill to the war graves) The museum is easily situated, you get off the bus at Chania main depot and just keep walking until you get to the sea front harbour then turn left at the harbour, you can easly recognise it from a great big anchor outside. It is called the Maritime museum of Crete and costs 2.50 euro to get in ( be aware though there is another museum with the same name nearby but that only holds a Greek replica long boat) The main museum holds WW2 relics upstairs and is well worth a visit. (pity i can't post some pictures, i have some great photo's) Ciao for now or should i say yasu.
