And stirring the pot helps how? I'm not taking sides here, I want you both to pack the shit fight in and behave like adults.

By the way the Army has been doing this sort of thing for ages.... so you are all plagiarising the forces

You're right Steve - That's in fact where the idea originated. Compete against yourself - We thought that would keep it friendly.

More details to follow.

Sounds like fun to me.... what kind of skill tests are you thinking of ?

River crossings, bridge building, map reading, (shame we cant do the march and shoot) so many to chose from.

Nah! It will be MUCH simpler and less strenuous than that - mainly because of time constraints.
Probably an observation test, simple problem solving en route and some form of knowledge based test.
Then get bedded down at the RV/overnight point before setting off next morning to tab to the completion point.

Basically just an authentic as possible route march with an overnighter inbetween. Ability to undertake some basic fieldcraft and feed oneself required.

It's enough we feel.

This is still progressing and interest is steady - News Imminent on date and venue. Thoughts on getting a brewery to support the event with free beer seem to indicate we may treble the support if we secure sponsorship in this direction! 8)

The admins have been VERY supportive of AFRA events. Please do not bait the admins. I'll just say this was posted in the wrong area, and stickied, and is not really the behaviour I expect from global mods.

Have moved this to the relevant area and I hope the event does very well and raises lots of cash for charity.

Ah! You bugger! Ah well, like they say, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Mind you, beer and running up and down hills don't go terribly well together.
I should know, I'm a Cambrian March veteran.
(ok, it was only with the cadets, but the principle's the same.......)
