mario is talking about a Type II M38 smock,
as shown here. It is a HK keith smock , tho i couldnt say its an accurate repro , but its the closest thing you will get.

Here is mine from when I did FJ in about 2003. It is a Lost Battalions one, they were never as popular as the camo ones.

LB step ins i liked. I had 3 of them , i found that it was too baggy in the elbows no matter what size i got, but to me they were one of the best step ins availible

Not knowing much about jump smocks and even less about the early types, I've just seen the Spearhead type 1 smock with 'field modified' zipped pockets (photo attached). If you're looking for an early war impression, are these accurate or a Chinese invention? It's made from heavy cotton duck which I know could be another issue. Cheers!

Pictures of Witzig & Koch and others after receiving their knights crosses from hitler after Eben Emael shows them wearing early step in smocks with zips uncovered. I believe a "field modification" so the spearhead smock has historical accuracy.

Gary.

I forgot to mention, M36 double front zip smocks were issued 1937-40, M38 smocks like the spearhead (without zips)issued 1938-40. M38 type II with factory attached zips (covered zips like most green repro smocks you see for sale) began to be issued in summer 1940 after the May campaigns.
