I may be late on the bus on this one, but I have worked out what is wrong with the Deepeeka shells/ liners height positioning.

As we know they sit too high on the head. I now believe this is due the the holes in the Indiam made liner for the spanner bolts being at the wrong height. I have re-drilled the holes to sit about 1.5cm lower down when the liner is out and sitting on a surface the right way up.

This effectivley seats the liner deeper into the shell and lowers the profile onto your head. Voila- perfect height, no stuffing with the stitching and while the liner was out, I pulled the black cording off the liner ring, separated the two and ran a line of stitches around the edge circumference where it is missing. I also removed the yellow zig zag stitching from the centre seam and pulled the seam reinforcing leather strip off the liner seam. There are still stitches holding the liner halves together, so no harm done and the shit zig zag stiches are now gone. All they did was hold the reinforcing strip on. With a bit of wear, the holes will close a little. So- no money spent on a new liner if you can live with the one it comes with, the old one is at least useable now and looks like it fits as it should and all up it took me about 30 minutes. Easy. now to buy a Don Calder repro!!!!!!!!!

The only other time I have seen really decent liners is at Beltring, a Czech guy had them in various sizes. It's a trader that goes every year so I have a look this summer, I think they were £40 ish (probably more this year though  )
Hanging up my Knochensack for now, it's been a good war!

Try militaria-klaus on eBay, I think he has them or there is a seller in the UK that sells them in kit form rather cheap ie you fit the liner and chinstrap yourself.

Thanks !

It seems that of lot of people already have a Deepeeka (or the new Sturm) helmet.

Is it possible that people who do post a few pictures of them with the helmet on so others (read I ) can see how these helmets (can) look like ?

I ask especialy photo's with helmet on the head instead of the helmet only to see how they fit...

Here ya go mate...I am a 58 hat size normally so this should give you an idea. I'm pretty sure all the Deepeeka shells are 71's.

Thanks...! Now I understand why every one is buying Deepeeka helmets.... I ordered two Deepeeka helmets shells right away to replace my Barry Lyndon helmet!

I also noticed at an event last week that Spearhead is selling now a different kind of helmet with different liner then that they did sell two years ago. The helmet now looks better, but the new liner is not that good as the older one...

Are the right and left sides of the strap connected to the corresponding bolts on the back of the helmet? Is that how it was delivered to you, or do you find it more comfortable?
Only asking 'cos photos I've seen have the straps crossed at the back and that's how mine's done and it makes for a nice snug fit.
Is it stamped CKL 71 on the rim as well?
