Hitler Youth - ski proficiency badge

Post by Sean »

Can anyone shed any light on what merit the badge was issued.

Also does anyone have evidence of these being worn 'at the front' so to speak.

Thanks,

Berg Heil!

In the book 'For Fuhrer and Fatherland'vol;2.It states very little information exists on the Hitler youth expert skier badge, its believed to be a qualification badge rather than a badge for accievement given to HJ ski instructors upon passing thier tests prior to be comming recognised instuctors. Its assumed that the badge was worn on the left breast or centered on the chest of the ski uniform(HJ).The badge was attached to the uniform by two horizontal clasp pins.
There is no mention of it being worn at the front, maybe only worn on HJ uniform.

Many thanks for the reply Brigardefuhrer.

I'm putting together a beer tent uniform and would like it to relate to my other passion/hobby skiing.

Would I have to replicate a Uniform of a Gebirgsjager if I was to badge the uniform up with a Ski Instructor badge? Anyone able to suggest any good books in regards to Ski awards given to troops who were'nt Mountain troops?

Thanks again.
