Only in terms of secondary material - "Bloody Biscay-KG 40" by Chris Gross.
The appendices give a wide range of info on the unit but nothing which specifically relates to Ireland.

I did for a time communicate with Herbert Hintze who saw the Dakota on which Leslie Howard was shot down .

I think in the years between Herr Hintze has passed away.

hi schnellmeyer
there is a book called "landfall ireland" by donal macCarron which deals with crashes in ireland
and details of heinkel v4+dk attached to kg40 staffel which crashed off wexford
and also of the pair of heinkels that were attached to kg27 which ran into a sunderland off the kerry coast.

Thanks panzerspaher for that info , this information I already have plus photos .
James , I know D.Mc C as I met him some years ago , alot of his material as you rightly said came from people like us yet he is very slow to pass on the credit , well he was in my case anyway . He used some of my original Luftwaffe photos and i did not even get a mention .

I gave him a number of photos - his ability to identify individual aircraft when he could see only the plaining bottoms and under surfaces of 201 squadrons Sunderlands overflying Castle Archdale in December 41 amazed me.
(His eyesight is obviously much better than mine!)
He managed to lose some of my material and that which was returned was slow to get back , all in all I was not happy with the experience.
I rest my case !

I guess we both were victims James ?????? Ah well it will not happen again and just for the record , it is easy to do a book when others do all the work !

It cuts the leg work out , I have what would write a good book on the RAF use of Lough Erne - anyone starting that from scratch would miss the opportunity to speak to key people who where there and would have to do a mountain of research to get a reasonable overview.
Making the finer connections - that which actually makes it link together it takes work , time and insight.
