Torn AE95 Power connector

Post by IOrtlieb »

Hi all,

I've obtained a Torn E.b designated AE95, which I beleive is pretty well a Torn E.b but made for use outside of Germany.

The problem is that the power connector is not the standard 5 pin male you'd expect to see on these radio's but is instead a multi pin female socket.

Does anyone knwo the pinouts for this configuration?

Also, I am having trouble getting it ouot of the external box, I've removed the 3 big fixing screws but it seems pretty solid (although does move forward a few millimeters) Is there more screws I've missed or just tight in the box? Im thinking its just years of sitting and warped slightly - just dont want to force it too much if there are more screws I've missed!!!

Thanks for any help,

Ingel

The AE95 is merely a variant of the Torn.E.b/24b- 305 set. From memory it, along with the Ae1020 variant, were designated for the civil export market. The different power plug would suggest either (a) a post war modification or (b) adaption at manufacture for a specific civil power source. A photo would be useful.

The sets can be tight in the boxes as the edges are prone to being battered in over the years. Pull it forwards carefully and see if it's fouling anywhere. If not, it could be that part of the chassis inside is broken and fouling the case. When I have this problem, I turn it face down over a pieces of thick foam and shake it a couple of times holding the handle and wooden runners underneath - the weight of the set will pull it out with minimal effort.

Ahhh OK Dave, that kinda makes sense... I'll post a picture tonight. I does kind of have the look of a more modern socket I have to admit.

I did try what you sugested in trying to get it out but I'll give it another go. I'm hoping once I have it out the box I will be able ot work out the pin configuration from the schematics!

Thanks again for your help :)

Cheers,

Ingel
