Kubelwagen windshield width dimensions from actual vehicle?

Post by Gaston »

Hello everyone,

I am a 1/48th scale modeler, and I would need to confirm the exact windshield width, frame included, of the WWII Type 82 Kubelwagen.

Windshield depth would be nice too.

Any WWII Kubelwagen owners out there?

E-mail me if you want at Gaston1_01@hotmail.com

'Got my answer in the "general" section...

Bandai's 1/48th Kubelwagen IS much more accurate at 23.0 mm wide vs 23.2 actual. Tamiya is at 25 mm, which is a large error in 1/48th... This affects the entire body cross-section, but only by 0.7 mm given the Tamiya's narrower-than-windshield body...

Bandai's windshield depth is 7.5 mm vs 7.6 actual. Tamiya's is at a silly 8.5 mm...

The Bandai's hood is at a better, steeper angle also: It rises above the doors which is wrong, but makes correcting the body and doors at the correct scale 2" (1mm) deeper body depth easier.

Body lenght between the fenders is also better on Bandai.

The Bandai's front hood is about 0.8-1mm narrow, which should be broadened to narrow down the front fenders.

The Tamiya front fenders, wheels, seats and steering wheel should probably all be used to spruce up the older Bandai, especially the wheels...

Bandais can still be found, and their Kubelwagens are still not that dear...

Thanks for your interest.
