John is it true that he was a model train enthautist and also hosted Douglas Bader when he was caught and let him sit in the cockpit of a me109 although with a gun pointing to him, a few years ago I sold a signed copy of a photo of him from my collection of WW2 Aces and SS soldiers still have a few left including what I believe are the invasion of Poland 1st photos taken on board one of the troop ships , given to me by the son of one of the German army offical photograpthers on board.

Hi Mairtin,that I don't know,I think he did host DB before he went to POW camp.I think Bader said it was Galland that shot him down,but I have read that its thought he may have been shot down by 'friendly fire'from his own squadron.
