In Hubert Meyer's book on the HJ division volume one is stated that the armoured crews where ever so thankful of the (in their eyes) Italian leather coveralls that protected them from burns.Konzert-Meister wrote:Not cut in wrap style but the 'U Boot' type leather uniform. With the 12th SS being sent into battle in 1944 and the ever decreasing size of the Kriegsmarine it's probable this is where the suits came from.
The suits are of a german manufacture but they must have presumed it came out of the same stocks as the Italian camouflage that they wore in great numbers too.
