I have read and seen pictures of early and pre war Luftwaffe issue cartridge pouches. They are said to be chocolate brown. The photos show a colour that is dark brown or perhaps chocolate pudding colour.

I have gotten a set of very nice quality natural/tan colour ammo pouches and am planning to dye them a shade of brown,. dark or chocolate.

I know in later years the Luftwaffe used black, but I would like a pair of pouches that have not been dyed, since I suspect not all were over painted or dyed. Plus I want something that if I ever do early war I will ahve something correct. (plus I have a great pair of black K98 pouches already)

But then, the question is- where the waist belts a natural or tan (ish) color or dark brown/chocolate as well? Bayonet frogs??
