I noticed that Ural and CJ 750 combinations that are Germanised are usually badged up with BMW tags. Just wondering if the pot rivets which are usually used to secure the tags in place are the correct type originally used or did they use another rivet method or screws instead. Anyone know what was used on original tags.

After careful research I have found that pot rivets were not used on original bike's, they used tubular rivets and set with a flaring tool. Rivets for casing tags for engines and frames with no access to form the other side used screw type rivets which you used a pre-drilled hole and punched in the rivet. They are still available today.
