No such thing as a "medics" tent Stuart mate, medical aid units would have variations of the truppenzelt etc (I can email you some examples of tentage), but field medics used zeltbahns for verwundednesten.

This is our Gebirgsverbindezelt as issued to a Gebirgssanitätskompanie (marked and dated 41).

There were specific medical tents, but they would appear to have only been issued to HVP and higher echelon units, mainly due to the size and weight (they all require vehicles for transport). There were generic ones which could be used as stores, wards, pharmacies, laundries etc. and also ones specific for operations. In 1940 a new style of tent was introduced which was effectively modular and lightweight (it used a frame on similar principles to the tilt of a lorry dray bed), though these were only usually found at Feldlazarette size units and above.

Thanks for this, Das Medic gave me a site to look at which did a decent repro, although conical at the top, if that makes any sense. It's white and looks ok.

I was perhaps thinking of trying to recreate something a little closer to the battlefield, I know the wounded Nest level was just behind and basically needed a flag.

But I wanted to get away with a flysheet or similiar that I could make, well a close family member is excellent at this. Do you know or have you seen any examples of this?

BTW your tent looks fab.

That sounds like it's a bell tent. The medic tents were camouflaged/tan/grey the same as the rest of the tents - that medical one was originally grey but has faded over the years.

For a frontline set up, anything can be used - I've seen a Market Garden photo of a German medic working under a discarded British parachute canopy suspended from trees. Rather than a purpose made canopy, make a sheet from zeltbahns - 8 of them would make a large tarpaulin. Most of my original pictures are of ambulances or higher echelon units. Have a look at http://www.hvp82.co.uk (I need to update the website) - I'll see what other photos I have.
