Greetings, good thread "Botty", i would say my favourite "German made" war films would be Cross of Iron, Das Boot, Stalingrad and Downfall, feel free to put your own, regards Peiper.

Cross of Iron and Downfall are great, obviously. Das Boot is set on a submarine and provokes my claustrophobia, and Stalingrad seemed to be about an hour too long. Better than the load of old donkey that was Enemy at the Gates though. :)
Looking forward to the new Von Richthofen film, of only because I've got a soft spot for WW1 aircraft. It's going to have to be pretty good to be better than the Blue Max, though...

The link is for a company that sells DVD copies of wartime news films, feature films and propaganda films not modern films. There is some interesting stuff on there.

I am tempted by the 58 hours of news film set :)

I bought "Rome, Open City" from them ... e very nice film and it cost under 8$ on ebay ....
Director is Roberto Rossellini. The film is located in wartime Rome 1945. E story about partisans, spies, SS and a love affaire.
