338th Infanterie Division

Hello, I was recently provided with information linking my VW82 Kubelwagen and the 338th Artillerie Regiment (of the 338th Infanterie Division) – which I am continuing to corroborate from other sources. As part of my research and, using published and online sources, I have managed to assemble an out...

Request for help in finding Artillery Regiment Details

Hi, I am currently restoring my VW82 and have been fortunate enough to have finally established its basic wartime history and original Wehrmacht registration number. In summary, the vehicle was produced at the end of February 1945 then, assigned to the Regimental staff of Artillery Regiment 338 (Inf...

Re: German Vehicle Widscreen Defrosting units

For reference, here are a few pics I took yesterday of such a unit mounted on my March 1945 Kubel: http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn90/steve82_01/DSCF4035s.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn90/steve82_01/DSCF4025s.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn90/steve82_01/DSCF4028s.jpg Cheers...

German Vehicle Widscreen Defrosting units

Hi, I am trying to assemble some more knowledge about the defrosting / demisting units fitted to many German Forces soft-skin vehicles during WW2. Information collected so far is limited to photographic evidence and images of surviving examples. Wartime images Here are a few images randomly taken fr...

New source of German WW2 Publications (UPDATE)

A friend over on VW166.com pointed me to a site in Germany that apparently makes accessible a huge number of German publication reprints from WW2 and WW1. http://www.superborg.com/ Have now made contact with the guy who runs the site. Since this is his hobby, he has not copied all the manuals in his...

Re: IF you have the cash and want a Vehicle

Even the Kubel looks way over the top - 25-35k for top, all-original would be the most you would expect to pay - but then, its what folks are willing to pay at the end of the day..mmmmm :!:

Drill with Skis - German Manual translation - UPDATED LINK

Hi, Thought I would just point you to the US Army translation of the German Army document entitled `Training and Tactics of Ski Troops` dated 01.08.42, which outlines these procedures in full : http://www.cgsc.edu/carl/wwIIspec/number20.pdf Please see my other mail in this section on US Army Assessm...

Online German Army Manuals - NEW LINK

[ NOTE : LINK UPDATED - OLD ONE BROKEN] Hi, Appologies for repeating this in this section (its under books and media also) but, the link opens several unit and individual level German training manuals - translated by the US Army and thought - given the lack of info in this section it would be useful...

Free Online German Army Manuals (LINK UPDATED)

Hi, Surprised not to see the following references mentioned on this site (they might be, but have not seen them). US Army Intelligence prepared a large number of documents on the Germans during WW2, both for general training of officers and preparation of NCO`s about to go into combat. These were ba...

Re: Severn Valley Railway 1940's Weekend 5-6th july 08

Hi there, I have attended these whenever I could, probably back to the late 1990`s (with my VW181), and not really picked up any real dissent - most folk are genuinely interested to learn about the period - from both sides. Am not a WW2 re-enactor myself (1960`s NATO Bundy is my bag at present), but...

Re: K.R.U.S vehicle and equipment dealer

I purchased a Kubel (and a couple of film prop K98`s) off Ronnie a few years back. He really went far, far beyond the after sales service that he needed to, and genuinely helped me get started into the VW82. I cannot thank him enough or over-reccomend him to others - Top man. Steve in Kidderminster

Late War Wehrmacht Uniforms - HELP !

Gents, Just finishing-off restoration of my early March 1945 VW82. Although not into re-enactment (as yet), I would much appreciate advice on where to start researching appropriate Wehrmacht uniforms and equipment for this late war period (for small displays I will be undertaking this summer). Altho...

Re: Opel Blitz Radio Trucks - request for info

I would be very interested to see pics (both inside and out) as such a unit allows the vehicle owner to keep the truck in its original flatbed format while still having a `radio truck`.

Thanks for sharing the info

Steve
