Finns Back in Business

Just a brief note to say that I am now back to full health and will once again be taking my Finnish impression back on the road with Unknown Soldiers, currently affiliated with Das Reich. I had a bad run in with liver disease that floored me for five years or so, but I expect to be back on the scene...

Re: why do Japanese?

[quote="Freebooter"]Hello, <snip> ...But I am 53 now and out of shape and have a horrible work schedule so have given up any hope of reenacting again. Forgive me for asking probably an ignorant question, but do Caucasions portray Japanese or is Japanese reenacting restricted to people of J...

Re: New Multi-period event, south of England

Blinder of an event Dave. I can only add my comments to yours, that anyone who wants an good fun event with none of the customary pressure should put their names down for 2014. It's like Detling used to be before Gary Howard nickel-and-dimed all the fun out of it.

Re: Complete Finnish Infantryman Impression for sale

What have you got, and what sizes chap? Ta. Well, there's: (Note - SA stamp means that it is official Finnish Army. The Finns used a lot of non-Finnish gear in WW2, though) M36 Summer Jacket, 42" Chest Pair of dark grey trousers, 36" Waist (Danish Civil Guard converted to SA M36) M39 Fiel...

Complete Finnish Infantryman Impression for sale

Hi Chaps. I'm too fucked up for reenactment now, so I have my complete Finnish impression for sale. This is pretty much everything I own, including equipment but not, sadly, including weapons. I have a complete list of stuff for sale if anyone is interested - looking for offers in the region of £100...

Re: Do we have a defector?

I know what you mean, Paul - they were always Richard the Lionheart, never Richard the Lionheart's plumber. I'd quite admire his plumber, having to daily go one-to-one with Richard's richards.

Re: Stupid things youve done at events?

At the Leningrad bash in Russia, January 2007, I was huddled around the fire with everyone else trying to keep my feet warm in the -10C temperature. Stood in the fire with my boots close together. Melted the soles. I found out that Russian boots, being made of synthetic material instead of leather, ...

Are you going to Beltring? A request.

At beltring this year, the Finnish Group of WARS (Unknown Soldiers) will have three Finnish guests over. Due to Ryanair's silly rules about not carrying weapons (even deacs!) on their aircraft, we find ourselves in a bit of an arms-lack situation. Therefore: Will anyone with a Mosin-Nagant deac (Rif...

WTB Map Case

I'm looking for a leather/leatherette officer's map case. Any nationality will do as long as it's not a webbing or canvas case. Any reasonable price paid.
PM me with details.

Re: Trautmans Journey

Just started this book - good to see it doesn't shy away from the man's wartime record in favour of the football. Very good so far.
