Re: Dimensions of Close Combat Clasp?

Thanks, John; your information was very helpful.
No, I wasn't thinking of making my own. I had been given a repro that I thought was too big, but it exactly fit your measurements.

Can someone provide the dimensions of an original or correct repro Nahkampfspange?

Re: question on gebirgs. and y straps

Cleats and nails do conduct cold. However, leather does not. Cold is simply not going to penetrate the 3-4 layers of leather from the sole of the boot to the sole of the foot. Bergschuhe were worn with thick wool and hair insoles to provide additional warmth.

Re: Tired of reenacting alone? Tired looking for a good unit

Mathias.. Where in Calif are you? Still in the active Army or Reserves? My outfit is full of former active duty/reserve soldiers. Many of us were posted to Germany in the 80's & 90's and love to talk about the old country. We are a growing unit with excellent standards. Check us out at http://w...

Re: Tired of reenacting alone? Tired looking for a good unit

To the Original Poster: If you want to start your own unit, you need to have three cards in hand: 1. You really must have experience reenacting that nation and solid knowledge of the specialty. If you're switching to another "side" (Axis to Allied, or vice versa) don't even try. What you'v...

Re: Spearhead/Barrylyndon overseas caps

His hats are awful. Thin material, unusable insignia, and poor sizing. I ordered two hats in my normal size. One came down over my ears and the other wouldn't even fit on my head.

However, his uniforms have always satisfied me.

Re: Chen ANT-Z wierdness

I won't lose any tears over Chen's absence from the business. My experience is that his tunics are poorly cut, Example: tail of the tunic barely covers the belt and buttons on the back my trousers and the sleeves reach almost to my thumbnails.

Excellent Feldpost stamp!

I just received my unit's Feldpost stamp from Chris at http://www.intrenches.com

Less than ten days from order to delivery and he made some custom tweaks for us, too. Highest recommendation!

Thanks, Chris, for your great work.

Re: tellermine restoration

Very clever simulated mines!
Those would be great for our unit because our opposing Allied armor actually could drive over it without a huge replacement cost.
They appear to be a serving bowl of some sort. What are the dimensions and do you recall the brand?

Bronze or Silver Infantry Assault badges for Waffen SS PGs?

I don't do a Waffen SS impression, but many of my friends do Waffen SS Panzer Grenadier. I've asked them this question and they say that the Waffen SS Panzergrenadiers wore silver Infantry Assault badges. As I understand it, the Heer warded the Silver version to ground-pounder infantry such as Jager...

Re: Ribbon bar question?

This post brings-up a good question. What was the order of precedence, from left to right as viewed by an observer, for various awards? For example, an IC 2nd Class, a War Merit Cross 2nd Class, an Ostmedaile, and a Long Service ribbon. I haven't found an Order of Precedence for the Wehrmacht simila...
