Research Help

Hello A friend of mine is doing some research into the British 42 Division (East Lancs, Territorial Army). He wants to know what German unit they engaged in 1940. They fought at Tournai, Lille, then skirted the Belgium Border, then back to Bray Dunes and Dunkirk. Anybody know what divisions they wer...

Re: most realistic looking reenactment photo

Nice, was it done with digital camera, or film? One more question, but I am very curious> I see one Filmberichter on the left, what kind of camera does he have... Bell&Howell perhaps? Do you have more pictures with him (of him)? Hello Just picked up on this thread. The camera is mine, it is a B...

Re: Field Division MG42 use?

It's hard to tell for definite whether this man is or isn't a member of the Field Division. I thought he had collar tabs on but due to the lighting on picture its hard to tell if he does or doesn't. It is possible he could be part of another unit. It's been put forward as a likely picture of an FD s...

Re: Kriegsberichter Cuff-Title Question

Cheers Mark From what I've found, a Kreigsberichter Zug was attached to Grossdeutschland from April 1942. So unsure if they'd come under Propagranda corps or as Kriegsberichter. Most of the sources on the web, which are fairly unverified seem to say the cuff-title came in 1941. Planning to have lemo...

Kriegsberichter Cuff-Title Question

I'm currently planning a Kriegsberichter impression for next year and I've run into a bit of a conundrum. Basically when was the Kriegsberichter Des Heeres cuff-title first issued, does anyone know. I've found conflicting reports on the internet and with very little written about this title at all, ...

Several bits and pieces for sale

Evening all, got a few bits that are no longer required. Firstly, a pair of post-war bunny ear spotting scopes, similar to the German type. Comes with transit case with backpack straps, tripod and tripod support transit case. One of the straps on the tripod transit case has snapped and one of the ey...

Re: Luftwaffe Great Coat question

Yes, I have heard that about the HG division removing their collar tabs as the white was a target. I don't believe the Field Division were subject to this as their collar tabs were green. Look through Goring's Grenadiers and through the photos I have on my PC, the photos of FD troops with greatcoats...

Re: Luftwaffe Great Coat question

I'll have a look through Goring's Grenadiers as I think there are some pictures of FD troops in Greatcoats in Russia circa winter 42-43. I think (don't quote me on this yet) that they don't have collar tabs attached, only shoulder boards.

Re: Emergency call for help

Hi Dave

I'll ask around for Lufty Field Division troops. I'm currently trying to build a FD group up but it won't be ready till 2013. I have FD kit but am not the country for this event so can't physically help. Hope all goes well for you.

Re: Tan and Water Field Division smocks

I'd agree with that Mauser, I'd say these would be a post-43 addition and therefore would only be issued to Luftwaffe troops. As the Field Divisions would now be classified as Army divisions, they'd not be counted and therefore not issued. Part of me wonders if they stopped issuing smocks of any kin...
