Re: Stamping Soldbuchs

The order to include a photo in each Soldbuch as a security precaution was not issued until November 16, 1943. That order stated that photos had to be in the books by April 1, 1944 for training units and Dec. 31, 1944 for combat units. Prior to this time there were no photos used, the exception to t...

Re: Antz Tunic quality

I have one of the late war tunics. The lining is artificial silk which is standard for original wartime M43 tunics. I don't really like the lining color, it is a pinkish red and not like the various gray/green/gold rayon I know from original garments.

Re: Stitch dyeing

I have a lot of original used field gear and none of it has dyed stitching. I have read that black polish was not issued after around 1943.

Original photo of a wool backed embroidered Heer M43 cap badge, and a surviving original hat with this type of insignia.

Sicherungs-Regiment 195, New England USA

"Sicherungs-Regiment 195" is a new reenactment group in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Vermont and New Hampshire portraying second-line security troops, the first unit of its kind (that we know of, anyway). We're looking beyond the blank-fire and are crafting a unit impression b...

Re: Use of ZB26

John, we just formed literally last month and haven't had a chance to do any events yet, just a couple of photo shoots with a few of us so far as we work on crafting our unit impression. All of us formerly did regular Heer Infanterie impressions and wanted to try something different. We will have a ...

Re: Use of ZB26

Thank you for showing these additional photos. I have seen many reenactors wearing MG13 magazine pouches with the ZB26 or ZB30. I have seen drawings showing this, and an action figure, but never an original photo. Original photos like the one commented on above appear to consistently show the magazi...

Re: Use of ZB26

The coastal units that I found that used these were, generally speaking, occupation troops in an area that at that time was not really a combat zone. I would suspect that DAK units would have been more likely to have been equipped with standard MGs. Here's me with mine, just a dummy. From a display ...

Re: Is anyone checking their members?

I think part of the problem lies with unit commanders who may not know or understand what is and is not correct. I believe that the only solution is for reenactment groups active in a given area or region to work together to establish clear basic minimum authenticity standards that apply to all unit...

Re: Use of ZB26

I recently saw another couple of Wehrpässe for soldiers trained on Czech lMG. The first guy served in Landesschützen-Bataillon 638 and took part in the campaign in Russia from August 1941 until February 1942 when he was grievously wounded. He was awarded the Ostmedaille and the EKII, also the black ...

Re: Use of ZB26

Here is the story on the Czech light machine guns used by the Wehrmacht, from what I have been able to gather. The ZB-26 machine gun was developed in Czechoslovakia in the 1920s and used by the Czech military and also exported to other countries. Further development of the ZB-26 resulted in later ve...
