I agree with Stig's assessment. 1st one appears correct, 2nd one is Post War but still pretty nice.

Re: Luftwaffe Great Coat question
I have to agree. The most common look is with no collar tabs. If you read the convoluted collar tab system around mid 1943 for field divisions, your head will be spinning. Pretty much by 1943 no collar tabs were worn by OR's. Field Division units would not be wearing green ones on their mantels. How...

Re: Tan and Water Field Division smocks
Martin, I also agree. Whatever Luftwaffe uniforms, webbing or camo was on hand was issued out and depleted Luftwaffe stock was replaced with Heer items after turning over control to the Army. Depending on the location of the Division, some units maintained a more Luftwaffe look. Even in Normandy, wi...

Re: Tan and Water Field Division smocks
Okay, so we are back to the only period photo we've found so far of the Sumpftarn FD pattern jacket, is being worn by a FJ Officer. I'm leaning more & more towards the notion that FD sumpftarn pattern jacket was a post Feld Division issue. Until we can determine the actual issue time of the sump...

Re: Tan and Water Field Division smocks
His name is Walter Paul Liebing. If anyone can look him up we can find out if he was in a FJ or a FD unit.

Re: Field Division Tunic
I personally like the Panther version best. I like their background colors (light or dark). Our unit uses ATF FD jackets before Panther came out with his. They are okay but if I had my choice I'd go with Panther if I was starting over. I believe ATF is now out of their FD splinter jackets. Many orig...

Re: Tan and Water Field Division smocks
Check out WAF below. It shows the photo I believe you are speaking of. http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...hlight=liebing I owned an original Luftwaffe M43 that was feldgrau. It was made in Antwerp with a dark blue lining, Luft breast eagle, Luft Flak shoulder boards & Luft Obergefreiter insi...

Re: Tan and Water Field Division smocks
It is strange that period photographs of a tan & water pattern FD camo jackets never seem to pop up. Kind of like sumpftarn helmet covers (yet another story). We know the camo jackets existed. I've personally owned a beautiful example years ago. WAF's thread on Luftwaffe Field Divisions (in the ...

Re: Denix STG44
Thanks for your reply. Yes, the finish looks painted to me(maybe I can parkerize or blue it?) I have a semi auto MP44 here in the US and it's a pretty expensive weapon to display at living history events. The Shoei one is spot on but costs around $1,500 US. A $300 display version might just work for...

Denix STG44
I'm looking for a dummy STG44/MP44 for display purposes. How does the Denix version hold up compared to other versions? The finish appears painted as opposed to blued. I have seen one for $299 US. Is that a good deal?
I'd appreciate your educated opinions.
Thanks,

Re: Web equipment SMW or ATF?
I believe Rollin (ATF) & Steve (SMW) did kind of a joint venture on the web gear. However, Rollin had some additional changes to his run (which I believe is a bit better as mentioned by Hoffmann). I did notice that the "D" rings on the back of the "Y" straps on both ATF &...

Does anyone know where to find a reproduction RSI Volontario di Guerre (War Volunteer Badge)? Awarded for volunteering for combat service in the RSI-ENR military.
