Re: Field Division Tunic
I do Field division here in the U.S. and it's a very cool kit. It's also a good fit for us older reenactors...LOL We use a variety of fliegerbluses: Janke, SMWholsale and Sturm. Janke is awesome but cost prohibitive. SMWholsale is excellent with his imported German wool but also expensive. Sturm is ...

Re: Field Division Tunic
BKommando, Welcome. Yes as mentioned, a Fliegerbluse would be correct. Where are you located? UK, US??? That would help in recommending vendors. Have you chosen a particular time period or unit to portray or just generic Felddivision? BTW...SplinterB......Why do you suggest red collar tabs and not g...

Re: German WW1 field gear
As John mentioned, the WW1 frogs were slightly larger to accomodate the wider G98 butcher blade scabbard. There was also a bayonet (84/98 I believe) that was almost identical to the WW2 version. The frog normally seen for that blade was the same as the WW2 98K frog in size. The finish was rough sids...

Re: German WW1 field gear
Hi, German WW1 leather gear was initially brown in color. Sometime later in the war ( I believe late 1915) an order was written to blacken all leather gear. This seemed to have been ignored by many units and probably enforced by local unit commanders and blackened in the field. I say this because I'...

Re: Insignia on Dot-44 camo
Askhati, The info you have received so far is good, solid and backed by photoevidence. As a novice reenactor, the best way for you to do it right is with photos from books and the photo section of this forum Contained on this forum are excellent pictures of outstanding kit to learn from. Re: Blue Division camouflage help?
Then again, could the photo be of SS troops posing with Blue Division soldiers? Difficult to say. Did the Blue Division fight alongside any SS units?

Re: Luftwaffe Greatcoats
I ended up purchasing a M42 Luftwaffe greatcoat from Gavin. Upon arrival, I found the color a bit dark but nice quality. The coat however, lacked a number of details when compared to my original. No neck closure, buttons running slanted towards the middle and the cut of the front was biased running ...

Re: name this weapon please
I haven't fired it with live ammo, only blanks. He stated the recoil is pretty robust & it shoots pretty well. He basically was shooting steel plates at distances to see how it perfomed. I certainly would like to put a few live rounds (& only a few ..LOL)through it one day. Heavy as all hell...

Re: german ww1 ammo belts
WW1 German Ammo belts were cloth, like the Vickers and Russian Maxim type. Usually 250 rounds cloth with brass or steel hardware attached. Although there was a 100 round belt for the Assault drum. Ammo boxes were almost identical to the early steel WW2 style with one latch. Hope this helps. mauser98

Re: name this weapon please
A friend of mine has a beautiful one in California. Just traded him a late pattern bipod for an earlier pattern for my 08/15.....very sweet. Another buddy has one that was converted to .50 cal that he shoots. Kind of the Grandfather of the Barrett .50. He sometimes brings it out to WW1 events along ...
