Re: Late-war Waffen-SS insignia

Found it on google when searching for "pea dot camo", looking for the link again now.

We all know the SS had collar tabs on their Dot44 semi-frequently, and Nelz posted examples of unpiped officer collar tabs, so... possible combination yes, but probably anything but common!

Late-war Waffen-SS insignia

I am busy doing some research on late-war ('44+) Waffen-SS uniforms, specifically junior officers - Untersturmfuhrer / Leutnant - and the silver wire piping worn around their collar tabs got me wondering: did the officer tabs retain this wire piping throughout the war, or was it omitted at later sta...

Award conversions - German to Soviet

Bit of a Soviet-related question, hope the knowledgeable folks here can help. I am trying to "convert" a German award collection of an individual into a Soviet equivalent. The ideas is that if a German re-enactor has earned a set of medals - e.g. Infantry Assault Badge, EKII and I, Wound B...

Re: Drillichanzug tunic

People will tell you that the Hiki ones have 101 imperfections - but if you want a cheap tunic to work in, to sweat in, to crawl through the mud in, and to generally treat like a soldier would have treated it (i.e. not worried overly much about the cost of replacing it), then you can't go wrong with...

Supply train ranks

A mate of mine is keen to join our Infanterie Kompanie as a field cook, but we have run into a hiccup: we're not sure what rank that entitles him to. He would be in charge of the field kitchen on a kompanie level, probably with 1-2 assistants. Stabsfeldwebel? Stabsgefreiter? Any advice or reading ma...

Dog tags - Luftwaffe personnel

I am in the process of turning out some German tags for our local FJ group, but I need some examples on how their tags were punched - i.e. did it follow the same pattern as the Heer, or did they have a different style? Could anyone please point me in the direction of photos of actual LW/FJ tags, or ...

Re: SS-Untersturmfuhrer rank insignia

Cheers, thanks for that. Actually looking for repro items, they will be going on a "field abuse" tunic that will be getting its fair share of mud and dirt.
