Not replying is common problem with Chinese. Doesn't necessarily mean anything else than that they are "on vacation" or something.

Just to take part in the how it feels discussion... In winter, when outside, you are not even supposed to feel warm like in the summer. The perfect temperature is when you feel slight chills going through your body all the time. This means that when you move, you don't sweat too much and freeze late...

My friend has brille made of bakelite I believe, or some other brown plastic.

I'd be surprised if you can't get them like that in UK as you can get them in Finland o_O perhaps if you go to some other places to ask?

I can only say this about Finland, but I and my friend bought Miltec dienstbrilles an got lenses for them, cost around 40 euros. It's nothing too weird, can be done easily. Only thing you have to worry, is that they don't use modern lense material, as it doesn't reflect the way 40's glasses did.

There's some stuff from him that is not very good but some is alright.

You do might be correct, with a quick look I endeed couldn't find any photos of summer 1944 with these grenades, only few from winter 1944/45. I need to search a bit more information, as this is a quite interesting point I have never thought before...!
