Re: DRK Nurse

I'm curious about the DRK stamp: how would they manage the two different ink colours, to get the cross red and everything else black?

Re: Help - Luftwaffe Helferin impresion

Two quick questions: 1. Can anyone comment on the quality of the kit and service from gmaxtailoring.com? Their LW Helferin uniform looks quite neat for a more "in-field" look for the missus. 2. For the helferinnen servicing searchlights, sound locators, and other field postings, what equip...

Re: Luftwaffe '45 - Fall of Berlin impression

Does anyone have photos of flak crews wearing the Flak Proficiency Badge? I have only been able to find one to date, and that for an NCO - not an Obergefreiter like I am aiming for.

Re: Luftwaffe '45 - Fall of Berlin impression

Update: M40 Fliegerbluse arrived from LWS, and it looks beautiful. The insignia, however - chest eagle, Obergefreiter wimpel, flak trade patch - are stuck at the local PO, which is closed indefinitely due to an ongoing strike. Africa... Also managed to source some RAL 7016 matt enamel from ou...

Re: SS troops in full camo

I was just honestly puzzled by the (apparent) rise of Dot44's popularity. From when I started out, I have a clear recollection of veteran re-enactors warning me to stay away from this modern obsession with full-camo impressions, and to rather do proper research on the unit being displayed, and wheth...

SS troops in full camo

I have been noticing something... "odd"... the last while, and I am not sure whether it is my imagination, or whether a new source on SS uniforms has been uncovered recently. Looking at photos from re-enactments, specifically ones where SS troops are present, I cannot help but notice the f...

Re: (Heer) Helmet colour scheme and timeline

Thanks, I must have missed that part... *face-palm*

However, the text seems to indicate that the 1930's re-issue of the M16/18 was painted in RAL 7009 - whereas I am more interested in the colour they would have been at time of issue in 1916-18? Was that also 7009?

Re: (Heer) Helmet colour scheme and timeline

On the topic of helmet colours: does anyone know the RAL codes for the WW1 paint schemes used on the M16's? I have been struggling to find a definitive answer on the matter, with paints ranging from field grey to light grey to dark grey / verging on black. Would a slate grey (RAL 7015) be acceptable...

Thanks for clearing that up. Was looking at a Sanitäter impression recently, and the same question was raised about their patches (but not answered until now).

Re: Luftwaffe '45 - Fall of Berlin impression

I'll have a look, thanks for the references.

Back on topic: would the flak trade patch be worn by everyone from privates up to officers, or was it an EM-only thing?

Re: Luftwaffe '45 - Fall of Berlin impression

Would that be the case for DAK uniforms as well? A trooper there would surely keep the same tunic throughout the year? (and I recall seeing DAK troops with tresse on their collars, somewhere)
