Re: Italian Quarter shelter tents in German Use..
John, Thanks for the linkInteresting. What i'm looking at is the Italian quarter shelter was square, and i am wondering how many of those were used as Tent sections by German units. I've seen a couple of the triangular ones at Beltring before, but these are for German use, that being triangular, so ...

Italian Quarter shelter tents in German Use..
Guys, During a lot of shows this year, i've seen a lot of groups using Telo Tenda Mimetico M1929 as large tents. My question however, is how much evidence is there to suggest that German forces utilised these items in this way? I know LAH and HJ units used the material for camo clothing (Along with ...

Re: Why so few?
Gentlemen, When this thread started, i felt it was to understand why Heer wasn't portrayed as much as Wss/FJR. All i could surmise is the exposure such units get from film, games and books. You will often read a passage that will declare that one allied unit was faced against the 67th Doppleganger S...

Re: Mortar 81mm Mod.35
Danielle, Yeah, they tend to be the Portugese versions. Made by the Italians for the Portugese army. In the mix however, you do find original RE ones. All the dealers see are cheap mortars to sell on, and buy a few. The last RE original i saw was eventually sold for £180. I didn't have the cash, so ...

Re: Why so few?
Is it exposure of certain units that attract bigger W-SS units then? As it has been mentioned companies like Dragon do a fair line of W-SS dollies? Ironically, Airfix never did a 1/32 scale Waffen SS troops in my youth. You just got DAK, FJR, Heer and Gebirgsjager. I just feel that modern media and ...

Ok, from what we hear, HKK will be back in october. Now thats come from a source who emails him regulary, and apparently he is redoing his stock and will have more to offer. Now we know that he is supposed to be producing M42 Bustina's, copied from an original, as well as M1912 boots, but we will ha...

Re: Why so few?
Stigroadies question is a good one, and his sentiments on because they look good do have some sway. The exposure of units like the SS and Fallschirmjager in films like BoB and SPR may have drawn some peoples interest, as most of these units also appear in console games, and tend to be the harder inf...

Danielle,
What you've built there is fantastic. Well done. Here in the UK, we can get deactivated 81mm, Italian versions for around £250. Yet i feel you've got more enjoyment out of your one because of the research and the build.

Hi Daniella, ok, try this place. http://www.civilwarboots.com/enter.html?target=dept_1.html&lang=en-us The company is called 'Civil War Boots'. Now from experience, i didn't think the boots i got were any good, but i have to admit that the picture their site now shows, does seem to be a good rep...

Daniella, if you guys are having grief over there in euro land, then why not come and chill out with us this year? Open invite to attend the shows we're going to. Can't have our fellow Italian reenactors being harrassed like this. Send those miserable lot to Sicilly, were Lucky Luciano's descendants...

Re: Alpini in Russia
Panzer, When it comes to the Telo tenda mimetico, i think it rather depends on the blanket they were issued. I've seen two sizes. One huge, and one small. I think the Alpini got a larger blanket due to the nature of their work, so had a bigger, chunkier blanket in order to keep warm in inhospitable ...
