Re: can anyone id this helmet ?

Postwar west german police helmet, from the 60's as far as I remember
It has no rivets, and the vent holes are bigger
Can anyone id the coat of arms?

Re: Controversial history

After the cease-fire agreement with the soviets the finns were forced to: Demovilize or disband part of their troops Push all the german forces out of their borders Hand all the captured german prisoners in the action to the soviets Return to the 1940 borders It was a hard task indeed As it is menti...

Re: Panzer Füsilier Regiment Großdeutschland - Summer of 1944

Interesting, a motorised infantry regiment
Indeed they are using the white infantry waffenfarbe on their shoulderboards
So not the same as Panzergrenadiers :?

Re: Panzer Füsilier Regiment Großdeutschland - Summer of 1944

BTW, what's the meaning of the red stripes on your GD shoulder boards?
Maybe some kind of unit insignia?

Re: HiWis

I'm interested in that impression as well I don't know if this was discussed before Hiwis had no proper "uniform", they just were issued a mixture of clothing and gear, everything that was usable For example: If you were a former soviet prisoner you would just use your soviet uniform If yo...

Re: Virginia Museum of Military Vehicles/ Nokesville, Virginia,

Nice impressions, you look the part
I like the use of the russian leather belt instead of the german
You could also use one leather mosin ammo pouch to give the "been there" look
You can purchase some cavalry boots as well 8)

Re: Gas Mask Tin ID Please.

A collector I know said they are from the 40's, allegedly copied from imported german gas masks during the Spanish Civil War
Note that the filter is spanish, but a german filter would fit as well
This is it

Re: Gas Mask Tin ID Please.

Spanish m43 gas mask can
Made in Spain from 1943 to early postwar as a copy of the german m38

Just like the spanish m43 helmet copied from the german 42

Similar, but not the same

Re: Balkenkreuz flag used in WWII?

Thanks for the quick responses I guess this design is fake, or at least very uncommon, as there are dozens of photos with the swastika "flag" instead of this one Such fittings make it ideal to lash to a vehicle. For aerial identification purposes, of course, but with the war in its final s...

Balkenkreuz flag used in WWII?

Reproductions of this flag for reenactment can be found on ebay Some people claim it's a postwar fantasy piece, others claim it existed but say it saw little use It's said its purpose was for aerial identification, like those tank swastika "flags" Alledged originals like this one have no m...
