Re: Another event crashed by us :P

This happens every year , same festival , same people , same controversy... Given that the article mentions the 70th anniversary & and was dated 2015 (12 months ago) then that's not a surprise. Was there near-identical meeja coverage this year too? Oh - I thought their use of the expert quoted ...

M33 helmet - need pointers to i.d. a WW2 correct shell/liner

Hi Not found a great deal on the web about the M33 helmet. I see all original war-time examples for silly (expensive) money - then "M33 type " for silly (cheap) money. Aside from the issue of the liners being upgraded post-war, etc. are the main steel shells basically unchanged? Are the &q...

Re: So...why is this forum dying on it's ass?

FB is a site I've never had an inclination to be any part of, mainly due to the nature of the people that were telling me to join it a few years ago - a load of attention seeking diva's at work = if THEY were the demographic it was a site best avoided. Not been proven wrong as yet - though swmbo is ...

Book wanted - WW2 trucks

Specifically looking for a copy of " Puolustusvoimien moottoriajoneuvot 1919-1959", by Markku Mäkipirtti - published in 2006. Seems that the publishers website has crashed or been closed & none of the on-line book sources seem to have a copy. Slim chances, but you never know... https:/...

Re: Signal Troops pouch repro

Difficult to tell, but the repro looks to use a slightly different grade/type of hide to the original version in the listing photos. The repro flap radius edge looks to be hand-cut too, not stamped on a clicker press. Still, looks good though, as long as they improve their hand sewing a little - get...

Re: Civic helmets: M34, Gladiator

I'd look on sites other than the German one.
See these from time to time, normally mis-sold as rare Luftwaffe models, etc.
Will let you know if I spot any in your size while browsing the web

Re: Quandry re. WW1 M16 helmet

Well....a bit of time has passed BUT Saturday 4th June....crack/damage to front crown of helmet welded up. It now looks like a WW1 M16 helmet shell again. I just need to dress off the weld, decide on which RAL colour paint to buy, sand/prep the shell....then paint it. I did have a nice repro chinstr...

Re: Anything North of the wall?

Weather report for East Fortune is looking decidedly un-Scottish. Typically ZERO signs of ANY publicity posters or other media from the organisers....so there'll probably more re-enactors than public. Again. Will be attending anyway....on my own as Finnish. Kit still sorted & ready after Blyth.....
