Have you really never seen early insignia on a late war uniform?
I am looking to swap litzen especially but these were what I had on hand.

Taking a breather in camp, 5 miles or so from the front, we've set up a zelt canopy and have taken off our gear for some much needed rest.

Re: Chromed helmet restoration Work in Progress
When I got home today, I saw waiting for me a package from ATF. Unfortunately I forgot all about my friends here on the forum and forgot to take progress pics. The helmet liner took about 5 minutes to install, was not difficult at all. Very impressed with the quality of the ATF liner. No complaints ...

Looking miserable and feeling miserable in the "Hurtgen Forest" (actually Peoria, Illinois). Dipped to about 10 degrees that night and we got over a foot of snow in 8 hours. By far the toughest foxhole sleeping I've ever done.

Re: most realistic looking reenactment photo
I'm quite pleased with these pictures and think they might pass as originals. Re: Signal pouch (nachrichtentasche) strap?
Yes, I have tried ATF..
An original would be preferable since this is going on an original pouch.

Signal pouch (nachrichtentasche) strap?
Does anybody have a source for a nachrichtentasche strap? I believe it is the same as the flare pouch strap. Here is an original photo of one:

Re: Chromed helmet restoration Work in Progress
Thank you all for the kind words! I am just waiting on the liner now. I will post a step-by-step on how to install one for those of us here who have never done one before. I'm sure a step by step has been posted on the forum before, but hey, I'm out of school. I don't have anything better to do! Tha...
