I was mislead by your initial post that said "I havent heard of this movie"

Re: 08/15 movie

No subtitled versions available AFAIK.

It's a shame because parts 1 and 2 are quite good. Part 3 is awful - German actors doing toe-curling impressions of American GIs

Re: The Price of Everything and the Value of Nothing

I'm on the fence about the concept of "intrinsic value". Beauty might be in the eye of the beholder but value is something else entirely. To quote Enoch Powell: "If people value something, it has value; if people do not value something, it does not have value; and there is no intrins...

Re: The Price of Everything and the Value of Nothing

Are you thinking of anything in particular? With the exception of the odd e-bay trader trying to make a killing from certain people's ignorance of market value, I can't say I've noticed any area of militaria collectibles that have appreciated at a startling rate. Surely the expensive stuff like helm...

If I were nitpicking I'd maybe question the stripes on the ball as I think this isn't a 1940s thing, but quite prepared to be proved wrong :D

Hitler's Children

Is anyone else watching the re-runs of this 5 part series? If not, then you should. It has some great archive film footage and excellent first hand testimonials explaining what it was like to be a young man or woman growing up in the Nazi regime. Apart from the tired old cliche of constantly labelin...

Re: Mess tin paint?

Considering the huge variation of colours that we see in original uniforms and uncamo'd helmets, is there any reason to think that mess tins wouldn't also have the same variances?. Oberschnaepser's pictures seem to demonstrate this (I'm assuming they're all wartime originals). I doubt if every tin c...

Not for official PK use as far as I know but almost certainly as home movie cameras by soldiers with deeper pockets.

Re: WW2 Propoganda Kompanie? Movie Camera

You can still buy Bolex clockwork 16mm cameras for around £100 on ebay. The post war ones are slightly different to the 1940s ones but only an expert would know. It's a bit more heavy duty than a pocket 8mm. Expired film stock can be got with a bit of hunting and a cheap process and telecine is abou...

Re: Seeking Tips On Making Photos Look Period Using Photosho

There is no quick fix or web ready simple solution if you want to do it properly. Each pic needs playing around with individually based on the original and its colour, sharpness of focus, exposure etc. I agree It's a combination of the camera, the lens and the film stock, all of which is a world aw...
