Re: uniform camo italian

Caen, Chen's print is still ok, even if it is crisper. Of the Three originals Telo Tenda Mimetico i have, only one displays the over print that your version does. Two of them have a crisp register, with little or no overprint. Of the two recognisable camo patterns used by the Italians in WW2 (The cr...

Re: uniform camo italian

Thanks for the comparison photo's, its good to see both repro's side by side. I like Chens, alot. SM's is still good though. I'd like to see what chens looks like after a good few washes in DAZ and lemon juice treatment and on the washing line for a month. At this moment in time, we can say that SM'...

Re: Uniform & equipment suppliers?

Yannis, Ok, with the Helmet, it should be a Grigio Verde (Grey green colour). Similar colours are Tamyia Field grey. However, one very close colour is Marabu Antique green. Its a German hobby paint company. They export to the UK, so hopefully they'll export to Greece too. Ok, the bandolier. Definate...

Re: Uniform & equipment suppliers?

Yannis, Here is a list of items you could try. Pegasus militaria for the Guibba e Vento (He makes the best ones, exact to original) Sartoria Equipe for Boots (Again, excellent examples of how repro boots should be made) The leather leggings are best sourced for Ebay.it. Look under the word GAMBALI i...

Re: uniform camo italian

Indeed Berg, and hopefully some M41 camo trousers too. The Caped sahariana is something that will look good. Its a tricky thing to make, as you've got to get the caping just right. Made wrongly, it could look very farby. Hong Kong Keith did that with his Italian Guibba e Vento (Or Mountain troopers ...

Re: uniform camo italian

Rather than go down the route of looking at German Camo on the small section that is devoted to Italian bits and pieces, lets try and keep this contained about the use of Italian Camo by German forces. What i'd like to know is, percentage wise, how many truppen were issued the Italian camo uniform d...

Re: Did anyone see Lofty-Boy at Detling?

Ok, Having Asked 'Lofty boy' about this, this is what actually happened. Lofty went to watch the battle with two members of mediterraneo. he was approached by someone who asked him to join in on the battle. He didn't have a blank firer, but one was sourced for him. The german reenactor who invited h...

Re: Italian Paratroops at Detling 09

Hi Jim,

Good to see you on here! Anything arrived yet? Not heard from you.

Anyway, the Webbing is an exact replica, made by ourselves, on the few remains found at El Alamein late last year. This webbing hasn't been worn until now since 1942- 43. Its taken a lot of research to do.

Re: Military Odyssey 2009 photos

Our Helmet covers are SM wholesale Italian Camo SS trousers cut up to make proper Italian Camo Uniform   Seriously though, i acquired some of SM wholesales camo off the roll and having been knocking out the odd helmet cover for those aspiring to do Folgore. I also use the off cuts to make...

Re: uniform camo italian

Thanks for that Wolfie, What i'll probably do is repost a new thread as a synopsis on Wartime versus post war and repro's, the do's, the don'ts and the wherefores. Hopefully, people like Caen44 will add their expertise to the thread. This weekend i'm at a show, where all the guys in my group are bri...

Re: DAK (Deutsche Afrika Korps) re-enactment.

The Group you are after is 288 Sonderverband. Our good friends. Now i can tell you that they aren't 'actively' looking for new members as such, but if you PM me, i'll pass on your details to them, or vice versa. I'll have a chat with Alex L tonight, and gauge his thoughts. We do alot of shows togeth...
