You're really determined to find out how far you can go in Germany, right?

Volker, is that a threat??? It comes over as such.

I was tempted to delete your post, but will give you a chance to answer.

Bill, I'm not threatening anybody.
You're going to do something of which I don't think it is very smart and which might attract trouble.

what's the legal status of the Totenkopf in Germany?
To be honest, I will find out when they see my ski cap

Cheers, Bill
Oof. You may want to find out in advance. I was just asking because I had my Zeugmeisterei T-shirt in the Czech Republic which has a Totenkopf on the front of it (the advertising is working, boys) but decided not to wear it out and about after Jakub pointed out to me that the Czech Police have a little book of banned symbols that they carry around with them. Apparently the Totenkopf is in there, along with all the obvious ones.

I was teasing you old mate, it is legal

Some of my friends wear a black berett with skulls on them,
they are members of "Freikorps von Lützow" 1813-1815.
One or two of the members have Waffen-SS pattern skulls
because they look the same.

Cheers, Bill (you should know when I am joking  )

Good to hear that. Volker your English is good, very good... but sadly not perfect. When you write "Right" at the end of a sentence in the way you did, that can be seen as a threat. Perhaps a  would have helped here?

1. The image that I posted in this thread clearly shows that I have covered up the swastika in the arm eagle. None of the other insignia is forbidden under §86a (Even the England WM team have three lions on a shirt).

2. The BFC were the only "unit" that refused to swear an oath to Adolf Hitler and they were seen as a joke within the Waffen-SS, hardly in the league with the Leibstandarte!

3. The impression has been authorized by the "WK2 Intressengemeinschaft Deutschland"
at our first meeting at Bussum.
The meeting included the Gruppenleiters of all the main groups in Germany.
Shame you could not come :(
which might attract trouble.
Trouble from whom? Of course you can rub it under the nose of the police a few times
and I may get an invite for tea and cakes?
But are you really going to do that?
I think not, because it would not be in your interest to do so.

Umm, I'm a bit gullible........
I was just interested because if that is so, then it looks like it's illegal in the Czech Republic but it's legal in Germany. I can only presume that it's because it was an accepted symbol before being appropriated by the Third Reich.

It changes from country to country and I am only living 3 miles from the Dutch border. If we do a local event and walk over farmers fields, it is quite possible to stray over the border without knowing!

The worst laws between countries is the standards of weapon deacts.
Mine fire blanks so I cant take them into Holland. In Belgium it is different again.

So the Totenkopf isn't banned, but this one is?

Umm.....why? I thought this was the old Imperial battleflag. Surely it's got nothing to do with the Third Reich?
Ain't laws fascinating things?

Oops, I've just noticed, our divisional sign is on the naughty list aswell. Better bear that in mind.

Didn't someone else use that excuse in 1939?

Dietmar, the Imperial Battleflag is only banned because Neo-nazis
have adopted it for their meetings
(because they could not use the Third Reich one).

I notice that the "Lebensrune" is on the list, even though it is not "Strafbar".
Interesting because my late Father-in-law has it on his grave since 1989.

Insane. So by that logic, if they adopt this one, it too will have to be banned:-

(my photobucket account is starting to look very eclectic!)

Won't the World eventually run out of flags?
In my opinion, it's about time Germany started dealing with its past, instead of running away from it. (That's just my opinion - please don't start shouting at me)
