replica kubelwagen
I have a replica kubel for sale, based on a 1965 beetle chassis, its registered but not on the road at the moment as it doesn't run.
When I bought it there was a small mountain to climb the thing had a seized engine no wiring, no doors, no roof, it was several colours, the list of what was not there went on and on.
Since then I have done most of the work to get it nearly ready to drive, it currently needs
door catches
wiring loom - there is one there but not really connected in any fashion and probably loads missing. I have a kuebl wiring diagram so its not too hard to get this done
exhausts - I removed the beetle exhaust as its an obvious item that is totally different to a kubel, but I haven't yet got a kubel one to go on
no windscreen glass - available from czech for £200
body tidying and all the ancillaries attaching
seats bolting in.
there are probably a load of other minor issues that also need attention, but that depends on what you want it for.
I live in bristol and this is where the kuebl is based, if I wasn't so skint I would keep and complete this project but credit card bills and various other demands on my time and money mean it needs to go. Open to offers, I would guess its worth about £2k ?
i have photos if you email or pm me I can send you some my email is blombles2000 at yahoo.co.uk
cheers
Matt

Re: replica kubelwagen
replied.
to all that have asked I hope this answers all the questions you have (writing laods of emails its easy to forget something
the floor pan is not rusty,
transmission and mechanical stuff all in good order
the foot and hand brake work
the doors are repro metal ones form czech republic with no catches so will not stay shut - the catches cost about £25 each (I think)
I was told the kubel was made for the film a bridge too far
it is fibreglass, not from Kooblekar, molded from an original kubel so I was told
the seats are not original kubel ones
I have some original kubel and very early beetle bits to put on it
needs re-wiring, there is a loom in but not connected in any meaningful way to anything else
the dash board is plywood and not an exact copy of anything, but meant to be a similar layout to late war kubel
I have the sump protector (repro from czech republic)

How much to convert it back to a beetle do you think
Hanging up my Knochensack for now, it's been a good war!

to all the guys I promised additional photos of, I have done 'something' to my camera and it no longer saves the photos.
I will get it sorted tomorrow hopefully and get you all some better shots of the kubel

I think you will find Matt is at Beltring War & Peace Show for this week so will be offline and not able to get this message. I'm off to Beltring myself today so if I see him I'll mention it on your behalf...
Stay calm, he's a regular guy but sometimes a bit disorganised! I'm sure you'll get your bits!
