Why????? Wassup? Looks like a nice German helmet and liner - Might have been painted - might have a non German strap........ Nice textured paint....... Offer it with a "money back if not happy but pay return postage" caveat.

Thanks for your support Hoff but the chances of me selling it now are zero, just for the record
and other peoples benefit the helmet hasn't been resprayed you can tell and as for the strap
i have seen quite a few helmets over the years and they have had a variety of straps,

The thing is people have generalized without actually seeing it in the flesh so to speak, i
would have given a money refunded if not satisfied clause but can't be arsed now and have
been put off selling anything apart from any repro stuff i want to get rid of, especially when
my integrity has been questioned !!

Regards to you Hoff

Our reactions are based on the photos.

Let it not discourage you because we can not tell from the picture
if the paint and texture is postwar...

The best repro is an original...

Genuine M42 helmet for sale

Post by Peiper »

This back for sale because i need some funds for other projects lol

Has stamping through out along with the liner which bears the maker stamp (Schuberth-
Werke AG, Braunschweig 1938), sadly this helmet is too small (size 58) and will have to go
and the money is going towards another project, this helmet is what it is, genuine shell,
genuine liner, according to the experts the paintwork and chinstrap is "dodgy" but not going
to argue, this is no use to me because i cannot wear it sadly or i would definately keep it,
anyway for quick sale iam willing to accept £250 or nearest offer, UK and cheques only
please, this due to bad experiences of things getting "lost" in transit???, first come first
served.

Looks original to me and I'm not an expert, but I've read enough books to know a real M42 lid. Yeah the strap looks a bit odd, maybe the story is suspect, buy you're buying the item not the story aren't you? And it looks like it has a name on the inside to!

Hey Bud,

Looks like a good issue M42 with original Liner. Not sure if the original liner is original to this helmet though (this is my opinion from the picture of the liner pin shown) The chinstrap is not a German chinstrap though as I have never seen this type of strap on a German helmet before but still a very nice helmet at a fair price.
