Hallo Kameraden!

After Denmark, Niederland, Vlanderen and BFC, another Foreign Volunteer group! We are a small group from Belgium reenacting 28 th Waffen SS Division Wallonien. We don't have a website and have currently no intention to build one so I post here a few pictures of us. Some of them were taken during the "Three days in January" organized by the Finnish Gaißmair group.

Grüße aus Wallonien.

Our unit recently organized a private reenactment week-end. Program was Spähtrupp in deep forest, partisan hunting and of course, rain and wind ...
I post a few pictures.

Well done on re-enacting the Wallonien!! They deserve much more attention than they currently get.
I am very interested in the Wallonien and am currently putting together an impression.
Did the Wallonien ever wear a cross of Burgundy on their collar tabs? Such collar tabs are for sale on many repro militaria websites and are described as being the collar tabs for the Wallonien. Or did they only wear the sieg runen?
Well done again on your impression.
John.

Thanks!! I'm happy to see that there are other Wallonier here!
As far as I know, there is no evidence of Burgundy collar tabs ever being worn. Sieg Runen have always been worn from end 1943. Burgundy cross was not even the official emblem of the division, it was rather a political symbol from Leon Degrelle's party (REX). Degrelle (and also some Flemish and Dutch leaders) wanted to rebuild the Kingdom of Burgundy, lost in 1477 after the death of Charles the Bold in Nancy. He was at that time more powerfull than the King of France. It is not clear what would have decided Hitler if he had won the war but it is not impossible that he would have created a kind of buffer between the Reich and France. This buffer could have been Burgundy.
I hope we can picture Wallonien together one day.

Eric.

About the collartabs with the X? Seen it once on a photo on the Wehrmacht awards forum. Make a search there and you might find it.
