Never had one, although of the ones I've seen the quality is nothing like an original, which personally I think you would be better off and saving your pennies and buying.John

Agreed, an original will always rise in value. However, the latest ones that RAU and Militaria net. are selling are very good repros and I bought one.

I think you would be very lucky to get a second hand one for a fiver. The reallity is this is not a cheap hobby and if you buy cheap it will show. Are you a member of a group? or thinking of joining one?,they will not expect you to get your kit in one go,or do you just want the bayonet as part of a collection.
Here are dealers well known in the hobby and their prices, also allow extra for p&p.
(described here as K98 bayonet, but the correct term is S84/98)
Richard Underwood.repro K98 bayonet&frog £59.50
Soldier of Fortune.repro £39.99,original £75.00 (frog not included)
Militaria.net repro £45.00 (frog not included)
Epic militaria.repro £54.95 (frog not included)
Hope this helps.John

thanks john ,there seams to be quite a lot of difference in price from the main uk suppliers for more or less the same thing .i know this could be due to different manufacturers ????they probably all come from the same source anyway.

I have got a repro one, it came from SOF, it is really shit.
I got an original one last year for £5.00(no scabbard) but still...
I am assuming most repro bayonets are from the orient.

Assume the worst until you find out different.

"when you say the repro is shit "
is this the quality of the materials or the build quality or both ?
or is it one of these ones that looks ok but don't fit on your rifle ?

Hi I take it thats in the States,in the UK ebay stopped sales of edged weapons,I think because of the VCR act.

Again ebay USA,by the time you pay shipping and UK vat and import tax and customs do not take an interest in it,it would be cheaper to buy here in the UK.John
