As the tittle says, where do you buy them now? Just curious for more shopping references.

Only use original shells, the repros suck.

I prefer to keep original in their original state unless they have already been poorly restored, then I might work on them. I want something I don't care if it gets dinged or stolen.

Limited sizes, but everything from the M16/17 to the M38/35/42.

EDIT: in hindsight, given the ahagreat sizes and the ATF sizes, they appear to be pretty much the same (like the FJ helmet being a 71/59 shell/liner).

Before the chinese earthquake, not sure if it was 2008 or 2010. M35 stahlhelms that came from china were the best copies going, as on a previous thread, it is believed that these originated from Russia have been stored after the war. "Experts" who have seen my M35 said they were either a very clever copy or original. There were no markings inside anywhere. The Chinese supplier i was using had his stock removed by the military as they had no metal helmets for the search and rescue operation. The stalhelms were not returned. While originals are best, i would not use one for re enactment cos once they are damaged thats the value gone. This like all other comments are my own, but i do not see the point in devaluing an original just to 'look good' after all the MOPS wont know the difference anyway.
