A bit of zelt porn for those that are into that sort of thing (and I know a few of you are!). An original HJ zelt.
Unfortunately, it's a bit too fragile for normal use.
We had to put it up in our yard, because if the owner's wife finds out he bought it, he's dead meat.
Out of interest, note the little spy hole at the back. It's got a leather patch on the inside that swings over the viewing hole, so you can see if anyone's sneaking up from behind. Must be an Ernst Roehm alarm.

Oh yeah. You can just see her peeking out of the barn. And she's running now. Just need to get her legalised and I've got me a fun run-around. Anyway, enough about Trabis. Back to zelts.........
Re: Hitler Jugend tent
Surely that's more correctly a HJ pyramidal tent rather than a "zelt"??

Re: Hitler Jugend tent
Dave. I'm shocked. "Zelt" is German for "tent." "Zeltbahn" means "tent piece."
Here endeth the Kraut lesson.
Now who's the pedant?

You learn something every day!
(Today I learned that Tim is even more pedantic than I am! )
Seriously - I didn't know that, thought 'zelt' was always an abbreviation of 'zeltbahn', not a word in its own right...

Re: Hitler Jugend tent
Oo, nice find! Do you have any idea if the peeking hole has any real purpose, like maybe for a mini stove?
Re: Hitler Jugend tent
'Fraid not. It's a piece of transparent cellulose sewn completely into the leather surround. Can't see any other use to it other than looking through.
