The DAK LW officers. What insignia did they wear and did they have shorts?

Hi Junge,

I admit that LW isn't really my subject as such. However, all members of each arm of service serving in Afrika and the Mediterranean were issued with their own version of the tropical uniform, including shorts.

My pleasure.

I will qualify that by saying that the Heer (army) were issued with olive green shorts and a similar colour shirt, whereas the LW and KM were issued with shirts and shorts in a tropical tan colour.

The army normally had a shirt and tunic breast eagle in grey or light blue on a tan background, the KM had a golden eagle with a tan or brown background and the LW had their usual mouse grey breast eagle with flying wings on a tan background.

Of the three branches, it was only the KM that were officially issued with a standard shirt unbuttoning all the way to the bottom, whereas the Heer and LW had the pullover-style tan shirts (although the KM wore both styles, in actual fact.)

I just picked up a uniform from Hessen. The pants are a good olive brown, but the coat is a bit on the green side.. I'll post a picture in a day or so.. my kamerad had it to sew on the insignia and will return the coat to me in a couple days.

Well, I took delivery of my DAK uniform from Chen, and I'm very impressed indeed. Really nice heavy cotton twill. :)

Well I must admit, I don't know very much about things DAK, but it is a lovely olive green. In fact, it's so nice that I don't want to look like an old sweat, all faded and dirty! :)

I know how you feel... I'm going to use one for 'dirty' and keep my ANT-Z one for best!

Any thoughts on Richard Underwood's new stock of DAK feldbluse?

certainly looks good, but I've been displeased with one uniform I ordered in from another vendor despite a great looking online photo...
