Good pic. But bloodyhell the medalwerfer has been working overtime. All you need now are a few tank destruction badges, a knights cross and to top everything off why not have a close combat clasp

Hi, thanks :)
I am actually missing a couple of medals etc to get this uniform complete ..
This is a reconstruction of the uniform from Norway's most decorated ss volunteer SS-Obersturmführer Fredrik Jensen.
I am missing close combat medal in silver, Eastern Front Medal (buttonhole ribbon), EK2 (buttonhole ribbon) and then I have to make a change to the ribbon bar + Replace "Norge" with "Wiking"

SS-Obersturmführer Fredrik Jensen talking about one of the incidents from witch he was awarded the German Cross of Gold

Autumn began. Rain and new sludge and new hardships in the trenches. Pitch-black nights with thin lines. A lot happened out there in those long nights, - Yes, you never forget them, buddy. It was the individual men against the many. One such night he was alone in a forward position when he was caught off guard by enemy shock troops. It was too late to raise the alarm. He decided to attack, one man against ten. He emptyed his magazine towards them, fought them with hand grenades and eventually got into a fight, man against man. Then he chased the few survivors of on the run. A bitten off ear will remind him of this night.

how were such men treated by their fellow countrymen/women who didn't support/like the Germans after the war? Also was it his ear missing or an enemies?

Leander_H , great pic and great post , hope to see the uniform when it's got all its awards . From what I've read , a lot of Scandinavian SS volunteers had a very hard time on their return home , including some being given prison sentences .

It was his ear that was bitten off..
He served on the southern front for the end of the war, with the rank of Obersturmführer and was arrested in a hospital in Vienna. He was kept in the American prison in Dachau. He was sentenced to three months in jail under the legal purge in Norway after World War II, and was also sentenced to a loss of citizen's rights for ten years. All these volunteers were hated by the Norwegian people after the war. Many had trouble getting a job.

Thanks! :)

The Norwegian government at the time (1940-1945), the Norwegian Nazi party encouraged people to enlist to fight the Russians. Through propaganda it was said that communism threatened Norway etc. And many of those who hated the Germans and had fought against the Germans, now enlisted voluntarily to fight a common enemy. They thought that they sacrificed themselves for Norway, and the people's best interest. But after 1945, they were no longer honored as heroes, now they were traitors. Very few of those who volunteered for service in the Waffen SS were Nazis in any way. Some were members of the Norwegian party, but most joined to fight the Russians. There were many young people who also joined, as young as 15-16 years old. These had joined just for the thrill of it.

He never regretted his service in the Waffen SS against communism for Norway..
He died 31. July 2011, 90 years old.
