K98 scope

Post by Fangorn »

good evening ladies

Question, i have an Emil Busch Visar 2 3/4 rifle scope, the problem is that we have a K98 without scope mounts and being as the missus owns it and its a 660 steyr make, don't want to wreck the markings, and so i'd like to know what mount the scope clamps onto, or wether to just make one to fit under the foresight and run backalong the top as last time, its normally scrimmed up anyway so no probs about covering the bolt housing

anyway some pics of the scope, and i hope one of you good people can help

Andy

It was - just cleaned up the wreckage - had no-one on here got any ideas ?

Anyone want some vintage scope mount feet - a pair of very careless owners :D

Just a progress report: feet sawn off (ropey, rusted steel) and the mounts filed back to the body - I wanted flush but Andy decided it would be just rounded off.

It was decided to use the no gunsmithing mounts that can be found on ebay with some 30mm weaver high mount rings with leather strip for bushings (similar item:

Once scrimmed up it will certainly do as good a job as the aluminium mounts we've been using for this season have been... and will be a lot tidier (and you've all been very complimentary about them - especially as they've been hidden by the scrimming :D).

Including postage the scope and the mounts will have cost us £63.89 - don't think that's too bad a deal consdiering what this stuff's going for - a complete sharpshooters/sniper rifle for less than £300.
