"In an image from the Bundesarchiv, a group of Fallschirmjager (Paratroopers) patrol a slope in Italy.
The soldier nearest the camera carries a K-98 with bayonet attached. Of particular interest in this
photo is the extremely rare "Palm" pattern camouflage being worn."

A couple of these guy's appear to be wearing "leather?" cross straps(?) (left shoulder to right waist as you look at the picture) like officers wore. Any idea if it's a dress item for the photo or they are carrying something? I've never noticed this before on Fallschirm.

Gary.

Re: FJ with SS smock
I guess these guys are from the Herman Goring Div. as they were issued SS smocks .Super photo and nice to see a real photo of the SS smock been worn by the FJ .
Re: FJ with SS smock
Just wondering about the palm tunic! I wonder if the picture is from Sicily as some of the Hermann Goring there had been issued FJ kit ,also FJ were transfered to HG there! Palm pattern was also issued to HG, prior to the issue of the field jacket, although ismall amounts of SS camo remained in use to the end.
