rarest of the german helmets on ebay ?

Never heard of m45?,no mention of it in 'The history of the german helmet' by Ludwig Baer.
The only helmets featured in there without air vents is post war Bundesgrenschutz helmets.
As it is,its just a rusty old shell.

he makes mention of prototypes a,b,b2 and c in his second volume.

Unfinished M42s. cobbled together in various configurations to make wearable helmets. Sometimes post war.

i think your most probably right Herr Grink, unfinished m42's, seems to be the only plausible
explanation that i've heard so far.

That is not the same as the helmet on e-bay. Perhaps you need to do your home work? There is no rear liner pin hole on your last post? There is on the e-bay helmet.
Decals in 1945? The colour looks like that used in Norway post war.

here's another shot of the same lid in question. the pin hole is there.
i spotted this being sold as an original,refurbished with decal.decal is not original.
i don't know if these are authentic.
the name in it is not original as well.
