Gebergs boots were issued to fallschirmjager! There is a famous pic of FJ in Brest, one guy has gebirgs boots, another has type 2, another has low boots and the last chap has jack boots!
The gebirgs boots thing has been done to death. If you are planning to do running around, get some hobnails or lowboots!

My post was a bit misleading. I know that GJ bots were used by FJ. What I meant to say was that perhaps the use of GJ hobnails on FJ boots, make it look even more exaggerated on period photos if one doesn't see that it's FJ boots with GJ nails, and not GJ boots altogether.

i cant say i have seen Type 2 boots with GJ hobnails , not saying it didnt happen , just that i havent got any evidence to support it.
Re: Jump boots!any ideas on suppliers?
Will have to dig through my photo files.
Regardless, much more common to use standard hobnails.

Feldman, you cannot excpect 70 year old technology to last! And the boots in their day were massed produced, no one expected them to last long!
This is wear and tear. You are new to the hobby? get used to kit wearing out very fast!
On monday, go out and find youself a good cobbler/shoesmith, speak to him about your issues with the boot. It will put your mind at rest.
If you want boots to last, you need to look for something more modern like british high leg boots.... but they are incorrect.
Regards,
Gary.

I understand your dismay at the boots seeming to fall apart at the first hike!
Do your research. Footwear in the 1930's-1940's was not like today's standard. There was alot more cobblers/shoesmiths on the high street back then than what there is now.
What you see with your boots now is something that soldats in WWII had to face with everyday.
The more you wear them, the more you will need to repair them. Like I said, find yourself a cobbler/shoesmith and speak to him regarding the issues you have with the boots. If he is anything like the cobblers I have found where I live, they relish the chance to work with boots built to the standard you have in these boots.
Regards,
Gary.

Did some skiing in them today.
It was a 3 hour tour in a pair of old swedish army skies, almost equal to GJ skies, and it went well.
