Who hates sewing uniform insignia?

Who hates sewing uniform insignia?

With the availability of a vast range of reenactment uniforms and insignia on the market,
it has become easier to think about a new uniform, be it for use within your reenactment
group or the beer tent at Beltring.

I hate the sewing part and each time I finish a uniform, it is only a question of time before
yet another sewing project comes along

Cheers, Bill.

I hate it too, but mostly because I have destroyed my hands playing videogames (Diablo 2 and early CS Beta being the main culprits, as I would play them for 8+ hour stretches) when I was suffering from depression. Anything finicky now hurts my hands beyond measure, be it cluthing a needle or a small screwdriver for any longer than 5 minutes.

Not a bad idea  However the uniforms you see in the picture are not even for me to wear,
they are for other people who have asked me to help them

Yes, particularly BeVo eagles - man, what a bitch of a job!

Still, it's gotta be done.

OK, who has ever sewn on cufftitles, finished the job all nice and neat,
then tried on the tunic only to find it is not straight or that the two ends do not meet up!

What about NCO Tresse :?

Lots of pinning, checking in the mirror before using the trusty sewing machine. Not at all easy if you are sewing by hand so if you can do a good job like that then I stand in awe. :) The only bloke I knew who could do that was Tom Gulliver of FJR2 and he was a practicing tailor.

Gotta be careful how to answer this question unless we are going to be seen to be potential 'stitch nazis' :D

A weekend warrior who can't sew :o

oh no, how emarrasing!

I don't want to say I can sew, but I've sewn at least 3 or 4 cufftitles by hand (a hell of a job) and alot of other insignia.

I've never sewn NCO tresse and my two bevo insignia were sewn by the machine by my grandmother. She is a true needle artist as she has worked as a tailor. she has sewn in my NSKK shoulderboards and adjusted several uniforms (waist and sleeves)

but a everyday weekend warrior must be able to adjust buttons, repair that hole or tair in an uniform and must be able to sew RZM badges, isn't it?
