Re: St. Petersburg 2008
UPDATE
This just in:
"Confirmed numbers for the event are 170 on the Axis side facing 130 Soviet troops supported by armour and artillery. This means a larger counter attack by Axis forces will be planned"
So thats all you younger lads wading at full speed through the snow while I wave goodbye, and come home soon..............
"the armoury at St. Petersberg has released sufficant K98's for all of the re-enactors in the party. A small hire charge may be levied"
No more Mosin Nagants for us. Yippee!
Seriously, looks like being a doosie this year, even bigger and better than last year.
Too all the guys and gals coming to this, youre gonna love it

Whato Dave!
I guess Michelle got in touch with you after all!
Dont know of anyone that far down. There is a couple of 'Londoners' going.
You could always tie in with them.
Cheers
Neil

Neil, what currency are we taking over with us? us dollars or euros or? i have no idea so seeing as you`ve been before i thought you`d be best to ask. i saw a post about helmets but am still not sure if its a good idea to take one. again if you could post some advice that would be great. i appreciate you have had a load of hassle arranging this and just like to say thanks.

Re: St. Petersburg 2008
The Euro.
We pay the travel organiser, Biar, in Euros while we are in finland.
We can change our Euro into Roubles either at the border or at the hotel.
Me, I usually just bring afew euros and my bank card.

Yeah, which you then kindly distribute to the needy of St Petersburg by donating your wallet to them!
You can get Euros and Roubles, commission free, from your Bank (you'll need to order your Roubles in advance, 48hrs should do) but as said above if you'd rather wait, there's plenty of opportunity to change money/use ATM's. Bringing some Euro's and a card makes sense but don't give Neil your wallet to look after . I really wouldn't bother with the Yankee Dollar, unless you have some to get rid off, it no longer has the appeal in Russia as all they want is Euro's these days (well they certainly want Neil's : OK I'll leave it alone now mate!!).
See you in Helsinki
