How many events?

Post by Stigroadie »

I've had a pretty thin year event wise. Work has got in the way and I've only made 5 events so far this year. I have poosibly 2 more to go this year.
How many have you guys managed to squeeze into your year?
Could you, would you do more?
Are there too many, or not enough events for you?

only done 1 event this year mainly due to work as i have to work every sunday plus bank holidays hopefully this will change in the near future. Will be at NYMR thou.

events one per month is plenty especially in this current climate with fuel prices and credit crunch.
Our show season starts in May at the RGM and end in Oct at NYMR and over the winter months we have the N44 party to attend, St Petersburg battle and battle in march/april so our calender is full really.

I remember when i 1st started there were more battles per year than shows.
And that boys is how you take a penalty.

1 per month is about 5, summer season.

I'd be very interested in any ideas about continuing the hobby over the other 7. Would stop all the silly posting :)

I've done 8 so far, should have been 9 with the Victory Show! I expect to finish doing 11 events.

As a group we've had an up and down year, almost 100% attendance by the usual hardcore of the group including a week in Normandy, but patchy in attendance from others. Just how it goes sometimes.
Hanging up my Knochensack for now, it's been a good war!

July Beltring

August Detling

September Victory Show

October North Moors Railway

November/ December N44 xmas do

January St Petersburg

Febuary nothing

March/ April Private battle

Thats 9 events per year december is difficult with guys saving up for Christmas and January Febuary is difficult as guys are skint after Christmas

Missed the East of England Tank museum off the list :D

Once per month is however the usual for me, I missed Detling, but did manage to get an alternative event in during August.

Hi All

Jan and I have completed 27 by the end of this year , easier for us to do this amount as we don,t belong to a group ( we are members of AFRA ) so can please ourselves , plus I cover Allied as well . Our display is ourselves , "promenaders" I believe is the term , rather than true get down in the trench etc re enactors , enjoyed meeting and talking to many of you and enjoying the high standard and detail put in by the various groups , our biggest thanks must go to AFRA , PD ,the Windhund boys and girls , Das Heer , the Forties Family , SBG , Richard Underwood , Jo , Les Hearn , Ian Hambridge and traders Rob and Lynne for all the help and guidance and acceptance given as this was our first full year , Cheers guys :D

March : Avoscroft museum of historic buildings , Crich Tramway

April : Lincolnfields childrens centre , Churnet valley Railway

May : Gunpowder Mills 2 days , Bluebell Railway , Kent and East sussex railway , COAM . Bletchley Park

June :Colne valley Railway , GCR Railway , Maiden newton at war , Watercess line , SVR Railway

July :SVR Railway , Beltring 2 days , Operation Pitchfork

August : Peak Rail , Crich , Ramsey , Detling 2 days

September : Spanhoe , Chatham docks 2 days , Nene Valley

October : Holme village , Rushden rail museum

December : Home leave on Watercress line

Not that rare, but usually in the autumn or spring.
Our public shows are generally May to October.
