Hallo Stephan!
Sorry my Greetings are late! Glad to have more born Germans on here.... We can learn quite a bit.

I just wonder if you will EVER do PROPER WWII Re-enactment of your forefathers without the prejudice, fear and paranoia that runs through both your society and your re-enactment community. I deeply hope so.

When people see the Hakenkreuz is a dead symbol with no meaning in today's society - then maybe. While ever it has meaning for some then they will keep it "verboten".

Thank you Fwbl Dollman!
You address a important topic, at the present time it's really impossible to do proper WWII Re-enactment of our forefathers and I hope I can do it sometime. The uniform from a Re-enector must be true to original and the swastika was our nationality marking, therefore it's important to show it. Generally are prejudices and paranoia problems in Germany and I'm a little jealous when I see other countries.
The pupils learn in school that all our forefathers who fought in WWII were Nazis and murderers, it's so sad. In 1986 I was 10 years old and my teacher told us the same, that all Germans are blameworthy. I told him that my dads father was disabled since the WWI and he has never fought in WWII. My dad was in 1943 only 3 years old when his parents and siblings died during allied bombing raids at the city Hamburg. I told him, my dad grew up in a childrens home and he was also a victim of the war. My teachers answer was - All Germans are blameworthy, your grandparents, your parents and even you.
I grew up with my grandparents from my mothers side and my grandfather wasn't a member of the Nazi party. He was a front-line soldier from 1939 till 1945 and he was several times seriously injured. He was a good guy and I'm proud of him.

Thank you Steve, I'm sure I enjoy the time in the forum.

And thank you Stephan.
You see - We have learned something already - a proper German's Story.... A story that shows how individuals suffered (in much the same way as British and other European people are shown to suffer) as a consequence of the Nazi's actions. We also read how the Germans instill into their people GUILT.

Thank you again for clarifying something and openly stating it.
